August Newsletter: Self Care
Caring for oneself is fundamental to a person's future success and happiness. This month I would like to address the selfless workers who serve on the front lines: the doctors in ERs and medicine clinics, nurses, EMS staff, police officers, fire fighters, and caretakers of others. I know life seems overwhelming at times, but we are sowing good seed as we exercise due diligence in our jobs and homes for the sake of others welfare. The highest form of good is serving, and that is what we do day in and day out. If no one has recognized you, understand that it is a common feature of society to ignore the ones who complain the least and serve the most! I want to encourage you to recognize that what you do is real and meaningful.
With the Pandemic and all the stuff that has happened, a lot of front-line workers and caretakers feel burnt out and left out. I encourage you to listen to yourselves and not feel guilty about making investments in your own health and wellbeing. The world is full of people who will worry only about themselves, but you one of the exceptions, and you must realize that even a car needs to be sent for servicing from time to time. Have you thought about how you can service your soul, spirit, and body? I assure you that this is not an exercise in luxury but rather a need so that you may run the race well, leaving all the hindrances behind—which include mental health issues and bodily issues. This will help you serve and advise better, so give it a go and don't wait until your wick is extinguished! We don't want to become a sad statistic; we want to accomplish our destiny to the fullest!
This month in the Kitchen, we will make Chickpea Masala in our Ingredient Section. In our Monthly Why, we will discuss why blue light can affect us adversely and we will discuss cucumbers in our Ingredient Spotlight. As always, I wish that you keep your health in center focus and live long and strong!
