November 2025 Newsletter— The month of Thanksgiving!

I have always observed that a life of thanksgiving nourishes one's soul more than a life of grumbling and fault finding. In today's fast paced society where a spirit of competition dominates every aspect of life, from school, work, politics, relationships, financial status, as well as in religious society, it is very difficult to find peace and harmony in our everyday walk of life. There is a perpetual bombardment of our minds to do more, work harder, and be more shrewd. Yet, in the overall picture of life, these ambitions whether small or big are a distraction from the overall plan for our existence.

We miss the big picture when undertaking every rat race that is thrown at us from different walks of life. Is every goal worthwhile, what will be the overreaching outcome in the grand scheme of events in a lifetime? At the very end, will you as an individual, find yourself satisfied in the majestic plan of eternity? Many people will be dissatisfied and wanting at the end. People end up lacking vital trust in relationships and stay deficient spiritually as they did not take time to evaluate where they were going and what they were doing? I encourage you now to evaluate if this pattern of life that you have adopted is worth the long haul?

As a clinician, science can give some answers to this arduous question that we all wrestle with—when evaluating a meta-analysis of 64 randomized clinical trials, it is clear that a life of gratitude and thankfulness led to better mental health, and positive mood and emotions that in the long run increase your well being. We are facing a mental health epidemic among young, and old. In this month of thanksgiving, consider taking time to appreciate the blessings you have, and show love, gratitude, and kindness at every opportunity you get. We are not responsible for how other people behave, but we can make a choice with respect to our own lives! Sow thanksgiving, kindness, and gratitude and reap the fruits of these seeds, for as surely as you sow, you shall most definitely reap if you refuse to faint in doing good.

This month in the kitchen we will discuss Pomegranate in our Ingredient Spotlight and also elaborate on making Sweet Potato Mash with brown sage butter. In our Monthly Why, we will discuss why the injectables used in Obesity do have far reaching side effects beyond merely affecting your bodyweight. As always, I encourage you to keep your eyes focused on nutrition, health, and peace and live strong and long!
