Newsletter April 2020 : The brevity of life!
It has been a challenging time for the whole world, a time of turmoil, reflection, re-evaluation, and sadness. All these events with the COVID virus reminds us how frail and unpredictable our life can be.
Is there a Silver Lining?
Faith and Hope:
Who would have thought that we would be facing something as unreal as what we are facing now? One thing I retain amidst this confusion is hope and faith, as in many great challenges before this one, I have realized that these foundational principles remain the bedrock of our existence. Nothing can hold us adrift amidst these floods of fear and anguish as well as the hope of a good outcome. I hold on with strong nerves and renewed strength and vitality.
Family:
I will advise one and all to use the time of social distancing to strengthen your family bonds and grow strong as a united family unit. We seldom realize how important family is to our existence. When we are so busy in day-to-day affairs we often miss the simple joys of each other’s company, while also missing the opportunity to self reflect and better ourselves emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Our Strength is in unity:
Humankind has been gifted with resilience and confidence— as we stand together we can weather any storm. Let us rekindle within our hearts the unity and love that has served to build us up as a nation. It is a time to stand as one, divided we are defeated, but united we will stand as conquerors! We need to put aside our differences and work together to bring our nation out of this quicksand. Let us put our political dissimilarities aside and strive for the greater good. With the greatness that has been endowed within the hearts of each human being, I know this is within our grasp! So don’t turn back, reach forth and unite!
This month in the kitchen we will discuss why it is important to take precautions during COVID-19 in our Monthly Why section. We will also discuss eggplant in our ingredient spotlight and make stovetop Miso-Marinated Pacific halibut with Seared Chili Asparagus.
As always, I wish that you make wise choices with respect to your diet and everyday living and live long and strong!
