Indian Spiced Turkey Burger
These burgers are extremely flavorful, and the chili gives just the right hint of heat and mint adds to the fragrance. You can adjust the heat based on your flavor preference. Always check the internal temperature of the burgers to ensure they are uniformly and thoroughly cooked. The internal temperature should be at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit in thickest part of meat
Ingredients:
2 pounds Ground Turkey meat
2 onions chopped finely
2-3 inches of fresh Ginger that has been minced
2 green chilis- Thai or Indian-minced with seeds- you can leave seeds out if too spicy for you
1 cup of tomato sauce
Water to add as needed
Mint leaves chopped – optional
1 teaspoon Garam masala,1/2 teaspoon turmeric ,Black pepper if desired and salt to season
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
Directions:
In preheated pan with 2 teaspoons of oil add the onions and brown for about 5-6 minutes
Add the minced ginger to the mixture and allow to sauté
Add the minced chili and mint leaves and add the tomato sauce
Add water- small amount and allow to simmer and all ingredients incorporate, at this point after simmering turn off heat
Add the turkey meat and fold into mixture
After Turkey mixture is thoroughly mixed, set aside
Oil your clean hands with some oil and make turkey burger patties and set aside on plate
After thoroughly washing hands, preheat nonstick pan with remaining oil
After pan is preheated gently cook burgers on each side, making sure the patties are thoroughly cooked
Serve on the bun, on a bed of lettuce or with a side of salad.
