Sweet Green Moong Dal

Ingredients and things needed:

  • 1 cup of whole green Moong Dal (washed and soaked in water overnight)

  • 3 tablespoons of brown sugar

  • ½ cup of Shredded coconut

  • 4 whole cardamom pods

  • Water as needed

  • Pressure cooker

Directions:

  • Take the drain soaked dal and cook with the cardamom pods and 3 cups of water in the pressure cooker until soft but still holds its shape. The heat may vary depending on the type of pressure cooker.

  • Transfer the dal to a nonstick pan and heat over a mild to moderate heat.

  • Add the brown sugar and coconut and cook until flavors are incorporated.

  • Serve by itself with a drizzle of honey and a sprinkling of brown sugar or with a scoop of frozen yogurt.

This dish is a simple way to make a sweet treat that marries the texture of the moong dal with the exotic aroma of cardamom and coconut.
