Grapefruit is a common citrus fruit which has many positive effects on our health. We will explore in detail the important constituents and benefits of grapefruit, as well as its interactions with medications:


  • Constituents: It is a rich source of Vitamin C, Fiber, Potassium, Magnesium, Folate, Calcium, VitaminB6, Thiamin, Niacin, and various Phytonutrients. Red and Pink Grapefruits are rich in carotenoids, ß-carotene, and lycopene. Naringin is an important constituent of Grapefruit which may have beneficial anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.


  • Role in Metabolic Syndrome and Insulin Resistance: Studies show that consumption of fresh Grapefruit is associated with improvement in Insulin levels and insulin resistance.
