It seems like the year just started and here we are, approaching December. It’s a great time to reflect. Time ticks away, irrespective of your readiness to handle its ever changing facets. Reflection helps us realize that there is much to be thankful for. The very fact that you are able to read this puts you ahead of so many others.
We all have something to celebrate; our families, friends, homes, the availability of clean food, drinking water… it could be the biggest or smallest thing. Being thankful is all about getting the right perspective.
We do not live forever. It is entirely up to you to make your time on this Earth worthwhile. This is easier to do if you have a sense of gratitude and a sense of thankfulness. Thankfulness starts in small things and it works up the ladder into bigger things.
This season I would encourage you to look around yourself and find things to be thankful for. If you look at the glass as half-full rather than half-empty your perspective will change. This will enable more joy in your life.
Remember, happiness is fleeting. It’s an emotion. But joy is a decision, a state-of-mind achieved by resisting harmful, self-defeating thoughts and emotions like fear, hatred, lack of forgiveness, and condemnation. By practicing thankfulness everyday, joy spreads and can positively affect the people in your life.
This month in the kitchen:
As we keep Thanksgiving in mind this month we will feature recipes that focus on using (you guessed it) turkey, cranberries, and pumpkin. We will focus on health with a discussion about walking. Plus I’ll have a few surprises sprinked in here and there. Have a question you’d like me to answer? The doctor is in. Follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and tell me what you’d like to hear about.
